About This Spot

Stepping into The Hound is like settling into a neighborhood haven that’s effortlessly inviting—an unassuming gem tucked away on East Asheville’s Tunnel Road. The atmosphere strikes a thoughtful balance between laidback comfort and lively warmth, drawing you in with both its intimate indoor spaces and a welcoming outdoor seating area that feels like an extension of the community itself.

The pace here flows with a gentle steadiness, encouraging guests to linger over thoughtfully crafted cocktails that whisper of careful mixology without leaning on sugary shortcuts. The bar buzzes softly with conversations, and the attentive staff moves with an easy grace, creating a rhythm that welcomes both locals and visitors to pause, connect, or simply savor the moment.

Food at The Hound reveals itself as a quietly adventurous experience—flavors feel fresh and intentional, with creative bites and larger plates that carry hints of global inspiration yet always feel rooted in genuine care. Fantastic food and incredible cocktails. You know a place is good when the drinks don't depend on sugar syrup for flavor! If I lived in town I'd be here all the time. Do yourself a favor and visit!

The Hound is one of East Asheville’s best surprises. Tucked away but full of charm, this spot delivers way beyond what you’d expect — from creative bar bites, full meals, to a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. The food from Bonito Kitchen in The Hound is standout: fresh, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. Pair that with solid drinks, attentive staff, and a vibe that feels equal parts neighborhood bar and foodie destination, and you’ve got a winner. If you haven’t made your way to The Hound yet, put it on your list. It’s a true East Asheville gem that proves great things happen when food, drink, and community come together.

Wow what an unassuming place, the restaurant is beautiful with great outdoor seating and thoughtful indoor. Have somehow never been here but went tonight with my girlfriend and had a great time. Prices are incredibly fair for what they offer. The bar staff was all great Melissa was thoughtful and full of poise as were all the staff but only got her name. The short rib was great and my girlfriend had the stir fry dish and loved it too. This place could charge 20-40 percent more and I’d still come.

We happened upon The Hound Lounge our first night ever in Asheville. The food sounded great so after our drive from NE Ohio we were hungry, casual and decided to pop in. Being dog lovers, we picked the right place no doubt! The atmosphere and vibe were very welcoming and comfortable and dog friendly. Grab a table and place your order. Simple and fast! The food was amazing! A fresh and flavorful change of pace from our usual heavy Italian foods from home. We got the Poke bowl, Loco Moco and the Ceviche and a side of Kimchi. The Kimchi was the best we’ve ever had! We will definitely be back the next time we make it to Asheville.

The kimchi slaw is a great snack to have with one of their local beers. I'm not vegetarian or gluten free but they had a lot of options that fit these diets that I think I would enjoy (including the kimchi slawI did get and love), so it will work great for a group with mixed diet requirements/preferences. At least half of the food options are either vegetarian and/or gluten free. (Menu photos attached from August 2025).

I can not sing the praises of this place enough. Don't worry about the menu. Everything is amazing. The food the drinks the service. Please, patronize this bar so that the next time I'm traveling through the area I can come back and enjoy this amazing place.

This place is awesome. Very casual “seat yourself and order at the bar” spot but with food better than most sit down restaurants. Ambience is also a cool vibe. I ordered the Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp and a Mule. I was floored by how good the shrimp dish was. The drink was also perfect. Spent $45 after tax and tip. Will 100% come back next time I am in Ashville.

Melissa was able to tell it was our first time there and made it feel like home immediately. I mean the pictures just don't do justice to how flavorful and amazing the food actually was. We spent about 20 minutes reading the menus because it was too hard to decide. Spacious overall lounge areas, very welcoming, and chill
